So, there's been a new game update.
http://www.urbandead.com/news.html
Doesn't sound like they added much. Basically, it's harder to barricade once zeds are inside and accidentally free-running into a ruined building has the potential to hurt/kill you depending on your current health levels.
Hmm... I can't help but think the anti-barricading thing is a way for Kevan to give the Big Bash an advantage in Pitneybank. After all, they've been held up for a couple of months and his zed character is among the walking dead there.
But they can't beat a united survivor front. Having experienced the difficulties first hand, he wanted to make defending a building even harder against a horde of hundreds and hundreds of zeds.
Also, scent death is more powerful. |

Do you suppose barricading becomes harder as more and more zombies pile in?
Also, what exactly does scent death do now? _________________ Help control the zombie population – have your zombie spayed or neutered! |

Well, I sure hope that barricading doesn't become proportionately more difficult as more zeds enter. Otherwise, holding any building under siege by a horde would become impossible.
I think it's just random percentage when any zeds are inside though. Some people are complaining of using 30 - 50 AP to barricade to VSB. Some have even said they used 20+ AP without a single level increase. But some have said they got 1 for 1 return on barricading. It all seems pretty random.
A suggest counter-tactic for survivors is to re-arrange the old order. Close the doors first, kill zeds, dump the bodies, and then barricade. Killing zeds has to be at the top of the priority list because this update makes barricading more difficult when zeds are inside and a previous update made barricades easier to tear down from the inside.
Normally, Scent Death is a zombie skill that appears as an action button. When clicked, it prints out info regarding where zombies and dead bodies are piled in relation to your current position. This info is a printed description. "x dead bodies y distance to the z direction."
This update made it a graphical presentation much like the binoculars for human players. A mini-map is displayed, in other words. At least, that's what this sounds like. None of my characters are zeds right now.
Basically, it should help ferals find sieges more easily. |

huh... I forgot about pipes being used to barricade buildings. Apparently, you can use pipes to start a barricade more easily while zombies are present. |
